Volunteering Queensland - inVOLve Module 5: Reflect & Adapt
What is Success?
Each
organisation and its volunteers are unique. The indications of a successful program are in both the achievement of the organisation's
and the volunteer's goals. It is important that you focus and define for yourself what the signs of a successful
program are to your organisation. Some elements may include:
- Staff understand the rationale for the involvement of volunteers.
- Volunteers work within established guideliness and boundaries.
- Sufficient documentation is kept to meet internal and external requirements.
- Volunteers have ownership of their roles.
- Feedback is regular and consistent, and is a balance between positive and critical.
- Volunteers have adequate work, space and resources.
- Management practices are responsive to the current and changing needs of the organisation and volunteers.
- Word of mouth is the strongest method of recruitment.
