Volunteer Linking

Volunteering Queensland provides a web-based linking service that connects volunteers and community organisations throughout Queensland. Over 1000 community organisations are registered for this service with over 2500 volunteer job opportunities available at any time. In 2006, over 10,000 people accessed the linking service.

This service is also utilised by Volunteer Resource Centres (VRCs) serving North Queensland - Townsville, Central Queensland - Gladstone, Wide Bay - Bundaberg, Sunshine Coast - Maroochydore and Logan River Valley - Logan.

Linking is only one step in the volunteer engagement process. Experience shows that a key factor in determining the outcome of a volunteer's initial enquiry is the length of time taken to establish direct contact between the two parties. Organisations and prospective volunteers are therefore encouraged to use the information provided through the Linking Service to make contact, discuss the volunteer's interest and, if appropriate, take the next step in accordance with the organisation's recruitment and selection practices.

Organisations can access a range of information, tools and resources on Working with Volunteers including Recruitment and Selection under the Information & Resources menu option above.

Community organisations can register for the linking service on-line (click on 'I need Volunteers' on the Home Page) or through the relevant Volunteer Resource Centre.

Insured organisations can list organisation and job details subject to the terms of VQ's Insured Organisation Linking Service Agreement.

Uninsured organisations can register organisation details only subject to the terms of VQ's Uninsured Organisation Listing Service Agreement.

Prospective volunteers can search volunteer jobs on this web-site by job category and location or postcode (click on 'I want to Volunteer' on the Home Page). In most cases, applications for volunteer jobs can be submitted on-line direct to the nominated contact person. Volunteers use of the Linking Service is subject to the terms of VQ's Volunteer Linking Acknowledgement.

The advanced search option allows volunteers to identify insured or uninsured organisations.

Volunteers who need assistance to search for a suitable position can telephone their local Volunteer Resource Centre to arrange a time for a phone or face-to-face information session. Regional callers can phone 1300 301 018 to connect to their local Volunteer Resource Centre.
