Stories Past Stories Volunteering in the 21st Century has many different faces and takes many different forms. In 2004, 6.3 million Australian’s over the age of 18 years were active volunteers, with each volunteer donating on average 132 hours of their time. These men, women and children worked with animals, the environment, policy and people in order to change the world – their own or the lives of others. Increasingly these people have connected with organisations in different ways including corporate volunteering, project volunteering, virtual volunteering (via the internet) and face-to-face volunteering. Volunteering is changing shape as the people who participate begin to explore new and different ways to contribute. Listen to their stories and see how others have sought to make a difference, or take a moment to share your own story. |
