Volunteering, an Important Part of Living

Graeme Saddlier joined the Parents Without Partners Organisation in 1974 and has been volunteering for sporting club, the Lone Fathers Association and as director of Parents Without Partners.

“I lost my wife when my son was three and found that being a sole father in the seventies was very difficult so I joined Parents Without Partners. I have been involved with the organization since then, sometimes I volunteered in areas so remote that there wasn’t even an organizational branch,” said Graeme.

“The highlight for me is the satisfaction of seeing adults resolve personal issues through support programs and the ongoing positive effect the programs have on their children.”

Volunteering changed Graeme’s world by widening his vision and increasing his understanding of the difficult issues that people encounter. It has also given him the satisfaction of helping people with their problems.
