Volunteering Means New Growth

Susan Aykeroyd of the B4C (The Bulimba Creek Catchment Coordinating Committee) came to B4C as a way to change the environment and what people know about it.

“I hope to pass along my knowledge to others,” said Mrs Aykeroyd.

“I became a volunteer at 4BC through a link that I developed with Volunteering Queensland. I was always interested in plants and wanted to find a way of using this interest to better the environment,” said Mrs Aykeroyd.

Mrs Aykeroyd’s main job at B4C is to reintroduce plants back into the native environment.

“Seeing seeds come up that have not been propagated in that area before is one of the highlights in this job,” she said.

“Seeing new growth where it has never been before is incredibly rewarding.”
