Don't miss out on the opportunity to apply for funding from the ASI ‘Smart’ Company Scholarship Fund. As part of their ‘Learn, Share, Grow’ philosophy Advanced Solutions International (ASI) is offering financial assistance towards professional education of permanent part-time or full-time employees in the not-for-profit sector. The study must be directly relevant to the work in the sector. Fully funded scholarships, education subsidies and open funding are available for professional education. The first round of funding for 2007 closes on 10 March 2007.

Volunteer Small Equipment Grants

Volunteers make an immense contribution to our community.  Organisationscan apply for grants of up to $3,000 to buy small equipment items that support the work of their volunteers by making it easier, safer and/or more enjoyable. The Older People Speak Out (OPSO) Media Awards aim to promote and acknowledge media for excellence in presenting older people and their issues in a fair and balanced way. The Awards are organised by Older People Speak Out, an independent group of volunteers with extensive media expertise, who encourage and provide older people with the skills to speak out on issues which concern them.  The Awards are supported by the Department of Families, through the Seniors Interests Unit. The "Can Do Community Awards" highlight initiatives by local communities, business and local government that have contributed to community revitalisation, increased social participation and economic development. One of the aims of the Awards is to encourage people to get involved in their community and one of the judging criteria will be: the social impact of the project, including social participation and volunteering. The Local Hero Award was introduced into the Australian of the Year Awards in 2003. It acknowledges extraordinary contributions made by Australians in their local community. The Local Hero Award acknowledges a significant contribution at a local community level. This award will allow the recognition of a greater number of Australians for the work they do and contributions they make. The Award provides an opportunity for communities to nominate fellow citizens who have made an outstanding contribution to their local communities. ERNST AND YOUNG - ENTREPRENEUR
OF THE YEAR AWARD

 

ERNST AND YOUNG HAVE A NEW CATEGORY IN THEIR ENTREPRENEUR OF THE YEAR AWARD - entrepreneur in a social, community or not-for profit enterprise - "individuals primarily responsible for directing the activities and longer term strategy of a social enterprise (not public sector).  The enterprise must be involved primarily in activities which seek to benefit the community."

Safer Communities Awards

The Australian Safer Communities Awards are organised by Emergency Management Australia. They recognise best practice and innovation by organisations and individuals that helps to build safer communities across Australia.

The Awards work on two levels. State and Territory winners are decided first and become finalists for the National Awards. All entries must be submitted through State or Territory coordinators, who forward nationally significant or cross-jurisdictional entries directly to EMA for judging by the national panel.

SENIORS WEEK FUNDING

Seniors Week is a great opportunity for all Queenslanders to participate in various community activities that celebrate the diversity of older people, promotes activity and challenges the stereotypes on ageing.
