CERTIFICATE III IN ACTIVE VOLUNTEERING

This accredited training course is focused on developing the skills and knowledge required by a volunteer to effectively participate in a not-for-profit organization, including:

  • Working within a legal and ethical framework
  • Communicating with clients and colleagues including those from culturally diverse backgrounds
  • Working within teams including taking responsibility for own work output and learning
  • Engaging in safe work practices

The course also enables learners to develop skills and knowledge within specialized areas by selecting electives from the following streams:

  • Administration
  • Community Development
  • Governance
  • Effective Community Groups

Volunteering Queensland will shortly offer training in these qualifications both as a class-room or self paced program, or, in partnership with volunteer organizations. This would combine a volunteer work placement within an organisation for at least 30 hours, face to face workshops with Volunteering Queensland, peer support group meetings/tutorials and electronic and teleconferencing when required for individual volunteers.

The program can also be taken as a self paced program in which participants progress through each learner guide and complete the learning exercises and portfolio of evidence in conjunction with a workplace supervisor.

Volunteering Queensland is also able to offer customized packages of accredited units from both core and elective streams to meet the developmental needs of community organizations and groups. Learners receive a Statement of Attainment for units completed in partial completion of Certificate III in Active Volunteering.
