Education Unit - Code of Practice
As a Registered Training Organisation, Volunteering Queensland has agreed to operate within the Principles and Standards of the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF). This includes a commitment to recognise qualifications issued by other Registered Training Organisations.
1. LEGISLATIVE REQUIREMENTS
Volunteering Queensland will meet all legislative requirements
of State and Federal Government. In particular Workplace Health
and Safety and Anti-Discrimination legislation will be adhered
to at all times.
2. ACCESS AND EQUITY
All Learners will be recruited in a ethical and responsible
manner, which promotes inclusiveness and is consistent with
the requirements of any training packages or accredited courses
within the scope of our registration. Our Access and Equity
policy ensures that learner selection decisions will comply
with equal opportunity legislation.
Appropriately qualified staff will assess the extent to which the applicant is likely to achieve the stated competency standards and outcomes of the course, based upon their experience and qualifications.
3. QUALITY MANAGEMENT FOCUS
Volunteering Queensland's Education Unit manages the quality
of our education services in accordance with AQTF standards
and is committed to providing quality educational services and
products with a focus on continuous improvement. We encourage
and value feedback from learners, staff, volunteers and employers
for incorporation into future education products and services.
4. CLIENT SERVICE
We have sound management practices to ensure effective client
service. In particular we have client service standards to ensure
timely response to client needs and requests as well as timely
issuance of learner assessment results and qualifications. Assessment
results and qualifications will be appropriate to competence
achieved and issued in accordance with national guidelines.
Our quality focus includes a Recognition of Prior Learning Policy, a fair and equitable Refund Policy, a Complaints and Appeal Policy, an Access and Equity Policy and Learner Support Systems. Where necessary, arrangements will be made for those learners requiring literacy and/or numeracy support programs. We will take every opportunity to ensure that this information is disseminated, understood and valued by our staff and clients.
Our learner information will ensure that all fees and charges are known to learners before enrolment, that course content and assessment procedures are explained and that vocational outcomes are outlined.
5. EXTERNAL REVIEW
Volunteering Queensland has agreed to participate in external
monitoring and audit processes as required by the Australian
Quality Training Framework (AQTF). This covers random quality
audits, audits following complaints and audits for the purpose
of re-registration and changes to our scope of registration.
6. MANAGEMENT AND ADMINISTRATION
Volunteering Queensland has policies and management strategies
that ensure sound financial and administrative practices. Management
guarantees the organisations sound financial position and safeguards
learner's fees until used for training. We have a Refund Policy,
which is fair and equitable. Learners records are managed securely
and confidentially and are available for learner perusal on
request. Volunteering Queensland has appropriate and adequate
insurance policies.
7. MARKETING AND PROMOTION
Volunteering Queensland markets our educational products and
services with integrity, accuracy and professionalism, avoiding
vague and misleading statements. Comprehensive information will
be available upon request, such as details of course content,
expected outcomes, process of recognition of prior learning(RPL),
educators qualifications, code of practice. complaint and appeal
procedures, support services and refund mechanisms. Details
of administration relating to enrolment and eligibility criteria
will also be provided.
When advertising, community and AQTF standards of ethical marketing practice will be adhered to. This includes consideration of anti-discrimination and equal opportunities practice and the use of course codes and other accreditation details.
8. LEARNER SUPPORT
Volunteering Queensland will provide appropriate support and
will maintain contact with learners to assist them in completing
the required assessment.
9. TRAINING AND ASSESSMENT STANDARDS
Volunteering Queensland's educators have the appropriate qualifications
and experience to deliver the training and facilitate the assessment
relevant to the training product offered. Assessment will meet
the requirements of endorsed components of training packages
and the outcomes specified in accredited courses within the
scope of our registration, as well as standards 8 & 9 of
the AQTF. This includes Recognition of Prior Learning, Recognition
of Current Competencies and credit transfer. Adequate facilities,
equipment and training materials will be utilised to ensure
the learning environment is conductive to the success of the
learner's.
10. SANCTIONS
Volunteering Queensland will act in good faith to honour all
guarantees outlined in this Code of Practice in order to provide
quality education opportunities and outcomes.
