VQ EDUCATION SERVICES FOR THE NOT-FOR-PROFIT SECTOR - A Brief Overview

About the Education Unit

Purpose Statement: V.Q.’s Education Unit enhances community participation and action through a range of learning experiences and resources. We aim to enable individuals and their communities to make a difference.

Through a focus on the development of skills, knowledge, relationships and environments we are able to facilitate healthy and productive community involvement and work practices that contribute to this involvement. We provide training, education, facilitation and consultation for those involved with the not-for-profit sector:

  • Those who volunteer
  • Those who manage and work with volunteers
  • Those who facilitate & lead community participation, action & education

This includes management committee members, paid staff, volunteers, community leaders and other workers and stakeholders in voluntary involvement whether they are in not-for-profit organisations/groups, government or the broader community.

Volunteering Queensland’s Education staff are all qualified trainers and assessors and have extensive experience in providing both accredited and non-accredited programs to a diverse range of participants. All our programs are delivered using a variety of flexible and accessible adult learning methods that cater for the needs of participants.

In line with the broad scope of volunteering, we continue to work with organisations from a broad range of areas, including:

  • Community Services
  • Emergency Services
  • Disability & Mental Health Programs
  • Environmental Agencies
  • Multicultural Organisations
  • Sport Clubs & Recreation Groups
  • Cultural, Arts & Heritage Groups
  • Local, State & Federal Government Agencies

We provide a calendar of training every six-months covering a broad range of topics, including volunteer and community management, wellness, facilitation and leadership. Information is also available via our web-site www.volqld.org.au.

In addition to our training and assessment role, we are also involved in a range of other initiatives, including:
