Skills Bank Information for Organisations
Representatives of Community Organisations are able to search for and contact volunteers who are willing to contribute specialised skills. This is a free service.
Registration
Organisations will need to be registered with Volunteering Queensland’s on-line database as a Linking Organisation to make use of Skills Bank.
Once logged-on, click on the “Looking for Skilled Volunteers” link. You will be presented with a Skills Bank Search page. Select the specific parameters for volunteers with the skills you need and click on the “Search” button. There will be a “More Details” link on each skill record listed. Click on this link to view all information listed by the volunteer.
If you find a volunteer with the skills you require, click on the “Contact the Volunteer with this Skill” link. You will next need to select the already listed job that you are offering the skilled volunteer an interview for. Once you have selected the appropriate job, an automated email will be sent to the volunteer offering them an interview. The Job Coordinator listed on the specified job will also be forwarded an automated email stating that the offer has been made.
View your organisation’s Skills Bank offer history by clicking on the appropriate link.
Confidentiality
The Skill Bank volunteer’s identity will be kept confidential up until the time they decide to express interest in an offered position. Up until that time, and including if they nominate to decline an offer, they will only be identified by a skill profile number.
How the offer process works
Volunteers will be prompted to log on to Volunteering Queensland’s website to view the details of the offer, including the job description, and be presented with options to express interest or decline the offer. They will be requested to respond to the offer within seven days, if possible.
Responding to the offer will generate an automated email to your the Job Coordinator. (This is an automated email and should not be replied to). An expression of interest email will include the Volunteer’s name and contact details and ask that your organisation contact the volunteer to arrange an interview as soon as possible.
Each offer will be listed with a status. The status will initially be set as “Pending”. If the volunteer expresses interest, the status will automatically be changed to “Responded”. If they decline the offer, the status will automatically be changed to “Declined”. Other status settings are “Engaged” for volunteers who actually take up the role, and “Cancelled” should the engagement not go ahead. These status settings are only able to be changed by the volunteer.
